A comprehensive list of Clavé's circle of known friends, acquaintances, relations, and political and professional associates, in alphabetical order.

Joan Tolosa i Noguera

Barcelona , 1818 – Barcelona , 1890 Musician

Composer, violinist, and director. He studied in Paris and there he met Guillaume Louis Bocquillon-Wilhem, who created the contemporary choral societies. In 1853, he founded the Orfeón Barcelonés, together with his brother Pere, a style of choral society very distinct from the Cors de Clavé.

The Tolosa bothers and Clavé were competing in the public sphere. Clavé’s letters mention the Tolosa brothers frequently, as the composer was eager to get recognition for his work with the choruses and to be recognized as the creator of the choral movement in Spain.
