Enrique Rodríguez-Solis

Ávila, 1844 – Madrid, 1925 Politician / Writer

Writer, journalist, historian and politician. He took part in the federal republican uprising in Alicante in October 1869, and for this reason, he had to go into exile in France until 1870. 

Rodríguez-Solis was imprisoned in El Saladero for his journalistic work. He published in El CombateLa RevoluciónLa Ilustración Republicana Federal, Heraldo de Madrid, El País, La Igualdad El Motín. 

As a historian, he wrote several books on women, such as La mujer defendida por la historia, la ciencia y la moral: estudio crítico (1877) or Majas, manolas y chulas: historias, tipo y costumbres de antaño y ogaño. He also wrote on Republican ideology: Historia del partido republicano español: de sus propagandistas, sus tribunos, sus héroes y sus mártires (1892-1893).
