Josep Anselm Clavé’s wife. The couple had four children. The first, who was a girl and was called Aurèlia (according to Clavé’s explanation in his December 29, 1870 letter), was born on December 7, 1850. The other three children were Conrad, Enriqueta, and Àurea Rosa.

Isabel died on August 29, 1898, in Sant Just Desvern, of natural death (cerebral apoplexy) at the age of 66. According to the record, she was the daughter of Pere Soler and Maria Bosch, originally from Anglesola (Urgell region).

The archive shows that Clavé wrote to her daily when he was traveling. She was the receptor of many of his writings, ideas, and political thoughts. Clavé trusted her with sensitive political information. She was also in charge of being an intermediary with the choruses or El Metrónomo when Clavé was not in Barcelona. When reading the archive, one discovers that Isabel does not know how to read. This has been interpreted by Aurélie Vialette, in Intellectual Philanthropy: the Seduction of the Masses, as one of Clavé’s creative strategies. Isabel is the “matriarchive” (Sherman) that is, she is the place, the house, where the archive is deposited and kept. She is receptacle for Clavé’s creativity.
